Awe, I am so sorry.... Words cannot even begin to help with how difficult losing our "soul" pups can be. I lost my boxer boy "Diesel" just a little over 4 years ago to pancreatic cancer that had infected 90% of it and spread to his liver. Like you, he never showed that he was even sick! He had lost a little weight but that was easy to explain as he had always had intermittent bouts with an upset tummy. (at least that is what we thought). One night we came home from pizza and he hadn't moved off his bed, we took him to the ER and they kept him overnight with IV fluids etc. The next morning we got the terrible news from the ultrasound that there was nothing we could do. They offered to put him down there but we said "no way" and took him home for the in-home service that afternoon..... (he almost made 7)
I guess I always took solace in the fact that he left us without having to make any "tough" medical decisions and that he didn't spend a lot of time suffering. Sounds like Vinny left you much the same way. It's so hard and it effects me deeply to this day.
I found a lot of support here and in the reddit sub "pet loss" and I still go there to this day for self therapy and to try and help others with their terrible "pet loss" journey.
Hang in there and feel free to reach out, and again my condolences.
Rick
(I hope Diesel and Vinny found each other and they are doing fun "boxer" stuff)
