Need name opinions

First let me say this is a great site.  I have owned boxers in the past and love the breed but when I owned them we never had such an information flooded website to go on and enjoy.  Congrats on a top notch site ladies and gents.

Ok....now like the subject says.  My wife and I are waiting to pick up our new baby boy on the 19th of this month and have been throwing some name ideas around.   She likes Diesel and I like Capone.  She says I can't have a "gangster" dog thats why we should name it Diesel.  I say Diesel is a common name for a boxer (but I still like it a lot but want something different)  What do you guys think?   I am just trying to get opinions from some fellow boxer lovers.  I have also attatched a picture so you can out a name to a face so to speak.  Thanks in advance all!!

Joe

Welcome to the forum, it is a great place with wonderful members.  I like both names, maybe when you bring the little guy home he will seem to suit one name better than the other.
Welcome,

Well I had the same problem, and I think my poor puppy was called 5 different names on his first day LOL. You can name him with his personality, or you can name him with what you want him to be. I named my after a Linebacker Cato June because I want my puppy to grow up big and strong. I think Hunter is a good name. Also I like Damien.
Both are good names, but like you said Diesel is a fairly common dog name. I would go with Capone!! He looks like a Capone! I know what you're talking about with the name issue. I decided on Tyson thinking I was being original....LOL come to find out it's a pretty common dog name especially amongst boxers. Oh well he's my little Tyson! Good luck with the naming, you can't go wrong with either of those names.
he does look like a capone lol

Thats funny, my last two boxers names were Roxy and Tyson.  We had Tyson when Mike Tyson was champ, thats why we named him that.  I showed my wife the responses and she said that Capone is growing on her, LOL. :D
I think I like Capone, as Deisel is a common name for a dog. Actually with his cute little face I would name him something sweet.
I must agree, when I looked at him I thought Capone.  That's what he looks like to me!
i totally think Capone !
Welcome!  I think Capone too.  He looks like fawn version of our Ziggi with that face and wrinkled nose! :D
Dungy! How cute. I thought of Cato June because I wanted to name him after a line backer and Cato came up and it is kind of unique!! We parents are so funny.
i like capone.... i had a boxer when i was a kid who looked JUST LIKE HIM and i named him butch.. his akc name was big bubba butch..lol
good luck whith naming him.. but i agree that you should bring him one and see his attitude.. the attitude always finds a name
Welcome to the forum!! One thing I have also found is sometimes the name we give when they are puppies doesn't quite fit when they are grown, take Angel, oh please somebody take her!  :bsjoke: Rhonda even said she looked soo angelic as a pup it seemed perfect, now, she should be called hellion  I like Capone actually, but you may find it might work better to wait til you bring him home, sometimes after you have your pup with you a name comes to you that fits....Regardless, he is a cutie
Welcome to the forum!

I have to agree with many of the others....I like Capone.
I like Diesel, but it is much more commonly used than Capone.

Perhaps you could work Diesel and Capone into the AKC registered name. Then call him Capone for short.
Capone's name was Al so maybe you could do something like a first, middle, last name. Just as an example....

Albert Diesel Capone

I know you have to be excited and counting down the days.
I just got my Izzy on January 3rd....I picked her out when she was only 5 days old.
Waiting another 7 1/2 weeks till she could come home was torture!

Well, if it's just between those two names, I'd pick Capone also.

I also think you can't go wrong with a good strong German name (german dog)!
Fritz, August, Schatzie, Bertram, etc.

I didn't know Tyson was as common as it is either!! My sisters dogs name is Diesel, and my friends boxer is named diesel.  They both thought they were being original.
I say he looks like a "Martin",  That is what I would name him.

Scott
Well my baby is "Fredo"(from the Godfather) so i'm a fan of capone...actually capone was one of our name options as well, along w/ sonny or michael...lol
