Hi all, I came across this forum while doing some research on a new addition to our familly. We already have a male brindle boxer 1 1/2 yrs old and was looking for peoples opinions on getting another. We decided to go with another male playmate, fawn this time, we pick him up this Sat aug 11. Cant wait.
We are having a hard time thinking of a name though. Cant imagine what it will be like when kids come along.
Our first little guys name is crosby and reasons were due to training, I read that boxers pick up on the hard EEE sounds, True or Not ??? i dont know.
Anyways just wanted to say Hi

The hard "eeee" sound is true I think but not just for boxers, all dogs. Though we named our maled brindle Odin... and he does just fine with it. Though most other dogs I've had had the "eee" in it... Nikki... Lady... soon to be... Kyrie... though Pepper did great with her name... Noah too. So I don't know... never saw the difference.

Welcome though! Can't wait to see pics... we heard that getting another male can cause conflict and fights over who the alpha male is. Most people on here have a male and female... but there are people who have 2 males and I haven't heard them complain about those issues.

I cant figure this picture thing out, maby they are too large.
As far as I have read more often then not its a male/female mix was worse as far as female dominance over the male. Either way Ithink its got more to do with training and spending time with them.

Hello...and welcome to the forum!

As far as attaching pictures to your posts, let me know if you get the add an attachment to work. I still can't figure it out! A lot of people have a photobucket account or dropshots. Although I wouldn't recommend dropshots right now because they just did an upgrade and are having some issues. I just opened my photobucket account yesterday and they seem really easy and are free!

Hello and Welcome!!

As for the male/male. male/female, or female/female everyone opinions differ. It does depend on the dogs as well, whether you have an alpha or not. We have two girls Savannah (2yr Mahogany) and Reese (6 month Brindle) and they get along with each other great. Never had any issues between the two.

As for the name the only thing i know for sure is it is best to have a one syllable name. attention spans can be short so one syllable they catch on quicker. I loved Savannah too much to pay attention to that, but she responds fairly well. The only time she doesnt is when she breaks out and is to overcome with joy of "playing" with mommy to pay attention!!

Congrats on your new baby and we cant wait to see pics. I did find it easier to use picturetrail (website similar to photobucket-i just had this account prior to joining) to attach images.
