I am taking Porter back to the vet to weigh in.  I figure while I am paying the $40 vet fee, I might as well ask him anything and everything...  like there is a bump on Porters throat I want him to look at, and also about his loose stools.  Anything else I should ask about??  I've had Porter for 1 week and he's a 6 month old.  Thanks!!

Are you transitioning Porter's food?  Try adding some yogurt or pumpkin to his food.  Good luck with your vet visit.

Yeah, his previous owner had him on some recalled Nutro or Nupro, so we switched him like overnight.  I am sure that's the problem, but he was having loose stools even on the old stuff.  We've beed giving him nonfat plain yogurt since lunch yesterday.  Hopefully that will help.

Is your vet going to charge you just to weigh him?  That doesn't seem right, you should be able to go in and use the scales whenever you want (I've even used a vets that i don't go to just to confirm what our scale said)  $40 for an office visit ok since they have to actually do something.

Get the nails clipped too if its in the office fee visit.   Also have them listen to the heart.

I agree, a charge just to weigh him...no way. If you have a petsmart with a banfield, just go there...I always weight Kaci when we go...it's free.

I think it takes more than 6 months after being bitten by an infected mosquito for the test to show up positive.  So, a HW test wouldn't help much until he is older.
