Poor Tux...maybe take him back to the vet and have them check for back injury/sickness.
[-O< [-O< praying for answers and that he is soon back to his old self. I know you're exhausted, also praying for rest for you.

I'm just speedreading through this thread. I have Gus who's been treated for SRMA (sterile meningitis). If that's a possibility they'd do a spinal tap and know by the protein and some kind of white cells in the fluid. The neck and spine can be extremely painful. If you could bring the bowls up to his face, he won't have to bend his neck. Symptoms lying around, lethargic, walking with his head down at a funny angle. There was screaming in pain (broke my heart) until they started him on the prednisone, and some Tramadol. Within 24 hours of the medication he started to improve, and I was so very glad to see it.

Sending prayers that answers come soon.

The spinal tap is done under anesthesia. Gus rested for about an hour afterwards and was ready to go. There was no pain at all later, and we've had two done. The UW-Vet School didn't even say I had to worry about watching for something later.

I thought it sounded horrible too. They do shave a spot at the top of the head, so he looked like he'd maybe had a lobotomy. I just wanted to let you know our experience. You have enough to worry about. This may not be the problem you're looking at. If so, I've been told that it can be cured, and it is not so much a problem after they are over two. Sending prayers, lots of them.

I am so sorry to hear about Tux, poor baby.

Have you contacted the breeder?
Or better yet, Brenda (the sire's owner). Brenda is a wealth of knowledge (and my greatest mentor).

Let them know what is happening and know that Tux is in our prayers.

Did someone else on this forum not go through the same kind of symptoms and it turned out that the dog did something to their back. I'm sure I remember something along these same lines?
Yes, Christine; I think it was Cheryl (Roxy07) with her Dozer. Not 100% positive though.

Terri; glad to hear that Tux had a poopy and drank some water finally. I really am praying for answers and positive outcome for you all at the Vets's tomorrow. [-O<
>:D< for you too.
That was definitely me :( Twice! Dozer has two discs that is too close in his back, if he moves certain ways he injures them. He gets so lethargic he won't stand, yelps when we stand him up, won't eat, won't drink, glazed eyes, temp, everything you described Terri. Im sorry I didn't post sooner I didn't see this until now. They put Dozer on prednisone each time and within 24 hours he was doing better....Best of luck, I hope Tux starts feeling better soon, we're sending our healing vibes.

 Been a very stressful day here....anyhow.....Tux is having to spend the night at vet...he has 2 IV lines....they are giving him fluids, steroids and antibiotics......he didn't even want to stand this a.m. and still refusing water.....they are treating him for meningitis and lyme disease(just as a precaution)..he really thinks its meningitis...and possibly congenitial......he's trying to save us some $$ and the expense of a spinal tap.....as we'd have to go to a specialist to do that......poor baby hollered when the vet turned his neck...... ~X( ~X(  I'm exhausted!! Will try and post updates as I know something.....Thanks everyone for the well wishes....
