I found a breeder from some local online classifieds.  They had no website.

I emailed them and asking if they were still available...  they replied saying that they were and sent me a couple pictures of the pups along with a picture of mum and dad.
Now what?!
I've only had a dog from the humane society.  And there really aren't too many things you can ask there...
What should I be asking a breeder?  I read the thread on breeders, but I just feel like I don't know how to proceed.  And I don't want to sound like I'm completely clueless when I talk to these people.  :D
What do I need to know? What should I ask?  I'm just looking for a healthy, fun, lovable boxer

Ask about health testing the parents...not just a vet check- ask if they did a holtor test, hip test and thyroid test
Ask about AKC bloodlines
Ask why they chose to breed those two particular dogs and not hire a stud
Ask about the health of both parents
Age of both parents
How many other litters the mother has had
Ask what the puppies are being fed
ask when they can go home (do not take them before 8 weeks)

Ideally both dogs should be health checked and cleared on heart hip and thyroid
They should be at least 2 years of age before their first litter
the mother should only be bred once a year or so and only a few times in her life time
most reputable breeders do not advertise in the newspaper, be weary of Backyard breeders
most reputable breeders do not breed two of their own dogs....they hire studs

good luck on your search

Ask about what kind of health tests they've had done.  Be wary if the breeder allows you to take the puppy home before its 8 weeks old.  I'd meet the parents and see about their temperaments.  Be careful that they aren't mislabeling their puppies as "rare whites" or "black boxers."  There is no such thing as a black boxer and white boxers and reverse brindles are not rare.  Hmmm. I'll have to think of some more.

Here is a great link to the Sticky in the Breeding section about finding a good breeder. I hate to rain on your parade, but MOST reputable breeders will not post an online add. Reputable breeders for the most part are known by word of mouth or referrall. I am not saying this is the case with whomever you may purchase a puppy from, just wanted to be upfront and let you know before hand.

great info (and quick too!), thanks.

The classified ad did have me a little cautious... that's why I mentioned it.  I emailed them back so we'll see what happens from here.
I'm sure I'll be back with more questions!
