R. I. P. Sweet Boy

We had to have Rocco put to sleep on Sunday night. The brain tumor finally got the best of him.

A little history: He was diagnosed with the brain tumor in December 2016 and by that point had lost most of the sight in his right eye. We opted to have the tumor removed. The surgery took 5 1/2 hours and was very expensive, but we felt like it was worth it and it restored his eye sight. We've had a good 14 months with him but a couple of weeks ago, we noticed a slight head tilt, he was bumping into things at times and he seemed a little off balance. He continued to eat well and never seemed to be in pain nor did he ever fall. He even trotted through the yard at times. Sunday, he started going downhill. By early afternoon, he couldn't get up by himself but if you helped him up, he could walk. Within a couple of hours, he couldn't stand or walk unassisted, he was whining off and on and wouldn't eat.

It was so hard to say goodbye but he has been an amazing companion and we knew it was time. He will always be in our hearts.

RIP Rocco, there is really nothing that I could say to ease your pain right now. You gave him a good journey. plus 14 months as a gift. We never think the day will come, but eventually it does for all of us. Be strong you'll always have wonderful memories of Rocco.
