Hi everyone, I haven't been on much lately, we've been sooo busy at work that after work is over I just want to curl up on the couch with Gaby and veg  ...but I miss being on here and chatting with all of you :)

I was just wondering what is more beneficial for our babies to drink?....the R/O water (reverse osmosis) or just plain old tap water?....I've been giving Gaby the R/O water now for a long time because she seems to like it much better...I guess it tastes better to her  ....but just wondering your opinions on this and what you folks give your boxers...

Henry is really picky on the water he drinks, unless he's reeeeeally thirsty.  He won't drink the bottled water at all.  He only drinks our tap water.  But we're not on a municipal water supply, we have a well.

we are also on a well here, but I've been told that our water is very hard...but we also have a water softener....Gaby just seems to drink more when I give her the R/O water and she barely touches the tap water

Neither of mine seem to care either, as long as it's wet  Where we used to live we had spring water, oh I miss that, but Samson didn't seem to care at all...I would think the R/O might be better for them tho...

Mine drink tap water - we are on well water and if we drink it - then the dogs can drink it.    We also feed raw - and our dogs stomach can process things that humans cannot.  First thing I get when I tell people I feed raw chix necks/back is salmonella.  However their stomachs are different and if fed properlly, they do not get it like humans.   So therefore I think of the wolves in a pack.  If they are thirsty, they drink whenever, where ever.  One would hope from a running stream, but an animal in distress will drink from a puddle if need be just like they will eat roadkill if they are hungry.

Just points to ponder!

I think tap water would be better for the teeth, at least where I'm at.  We have city water- fluoride and chlorine are added which help with enamel and stuff in teeth.

I used bottled water at our vacation home because of the water softener.  At home he drank tap water, but he wanted to drink from the hose outside so we got a hose that was safe for drinking water.  Drinking from the bathtub faucet was also one of his favorite sources.  I wonder what it was about the running water that was so special.

I have worked in the water treatment field for many years and can tell you that reverse osmosis is not the best thing to drink. Yes it taste better since it strips the CL and odor from the water, but it also strips all the nutrients from the water also. It's like eating broccoli and not getting any nutrients out of it. Also, without Cl, bacteria can start to grow since there is nothing to kill it.

Is R/O the same as distilled?  Hubby works building super high security labratories.  They have special pipes for the R/O water and was told to never drink it.
We've been drinking distilled water for 15 years!  I really hope it's not the same thing!!!

Thanks!

I'm curious about distilled water too.   Here in Tirana, our tap water is not potable so we have distillers in the house.  Allie and us drink from that.  When we travel, she gets bottled water or Wetbone.
