Lola is housebroken - problem is our yard is a disaster so we just let her out and go where she pleases.  Now with the fence in we're going to get grass and would like to block off one corner with pea stone and use that as her potty place.  So today my bf has been taking her out on a lead each time and taking her to that corner, but she won't go potty.  She's been holding it in since 9am.  He did say she finally went, but it was when they were walking back to go in the house.  He bought some treats.  Any other suggestions?  Can this even be accomplished, or have we destroyed any hope with letting her go anywhere?

I know it takes time, try telling that to the other half!  It's been umm.....4 hours and he's already aggravated saying it's hopeless!  What a nutcase he is sometimes!

i totally think it can be done, the ground work is already there, maybe she just needs a potty schedule and some positve reinforcement

maybe you can take some of the soil/dirt where she has gone before and shovel into the spot where you want her to go? so that her scents are there.....

It also could be the feel of the gravel under her feet...We put some in as a walkway from the drivethru gates to the back door and I notice mine will taker the long route to get to the deck sometimes...

Yes- if they are use to going on grass it will take a little time to get them used to going on gravel or other surfaces. However 4 hours is way too little to give up.. lol

The other part you need is to train a word to go pee. If not, then she may just hold it for 4 hours like she did.  Everytime she goes pee just say go pee go pee or whatever word works for you. This will help stimulate her pee on command once she associtates it with peeing.

When i visit my sister in law she has dirt and britney is used to grass. The first time it took 15 minutes to get her to pee but I just say those words and it becomes automatic for her..
