Well the old man has been having more difficulty lately getting around so in to the vet we went this morning....That back leg has just been buckling on him lately a lot and he can barely make it once around the park as a very slow pace, so I knew it was getting worse....

First off he's gained 4 lbs in 3 months, not good. Mainly due to the fact that his mobility is getting worse. So rather than going with the injections which was what we had discussed a few months ago, we are starting him off with 50mg of Deramaxx daily, IF we see good results, we will drop the dosage to 25 mg and try for every other day. Goal is to keep the meds as low as possible for as long as possible...And of course until the meds kick in I have to cut his food back even more!!! Omg, he's going to hate me..So please think positive thoughts for my boy, the good thing is I don't see signs of depression, more like frustration as he cannot do the things he once did, which is good cos that means he's still fighting :)

Yep, Deramaxx did wonders for Buster's hips as well. If we didn't do the adequan shots, we used the deramaxx. I hope you see great results with Samson, and you only need a low dose!
Hang in there Samson! I think he'll be feeling better in no time!  :)

The Deramaxx is pretty wonderful stuff....and the good thing about htis is that if he does not respond as hoped then you always can fall back to the Adequan.  Hopefully you will see a big improvement.....Did the vet leave him on the Gyco Flex or take him off?

Sharon he said to leave him on it, but quit giving the baby aspirin, which makes sense, right? He actually wanted me to change to a senior food to get the Glucosamine, but I told him he was on the Glyco, so he's fine with that

Aww Samson, sending you all the positive thoughts and healing vibes I can think of. Donner and Blitz send wiggles and gentle kisses. Hope the meds help Willow, and Sampson is back to health soon. Would he lay on some warm packs maybe it would ease the aches??? The rice bag kind you throw in the micro wave??

I've used those with him Lori, I have one that i use for my sholder all the time, he loves it as long as it's not too warm, plus I sit and massage his leg, which is his favorite thing :) Oh yea, he's spoiled and knows it

If I could go back and change one thing about life with my geriatric dogs is the one ride a day in the car for them.  They just love rides and I could have gotten them out and let them sniff a new territory without a big huge walk.  Then I could put them in the car while I took the youngster on their walk and they could lay in the car and enjoy watching the new scenery.  I hope the Deramaxx works and he gets back in action.  I know it is hard to see your baby go thru the aging process.  We are keeping you in our prayers.
