My 8 year old boxer has developed a food allergy and tablets from my vet in Spain aren't helping. Neither is hypoallergenic food. Please, can anyone help? I don't want to lose my boy.

I am sorry this is happening. This is not my area of expertise but a basic question, would be ... did the vet , tell "what it is the food that you feed, that your dog has a "problem with?" Is it an actual allergy? Or is it an upset stomach?

Chicken and Rice, is usually a "Go To," for an upset tummy. But if your dog has an issue with Chicken? That's not gonna work. :(

It isn't an upset tummy. He cannot stop scratching himself. No parasites of any kind. He has had lots of different foods - at first the new food stops the scratching but after a few weeks it comes back again.

Hmm, well now this sounds a bit different? Typically short haired breeds, don't have a lot of itchy issues? So maybe, it's not "Food?" It's environmental? Does this happen all the time? Or does it happen at certain times a year?

In any case, a Keno-log Shot, would provide "temporary relief." Three to Four month's usually. And usually the "itchy issues," crop up in the Spring and early to late Summer? That's stuff I know from my GSD, I have never had issues, with my Boxer's or other short haired breeds.

When does the issue happen? Time of year?

It does sound like an environmental allergy, a food allergy usually presents as diarrhea and vomiting, there is an injectable allergy med. called cytopoint I would suggest you try and see if it settles him down. Environmental allergies can come from storage mites to air fresheners to cats or horses so could be anything
