I'm having more questions than I thought I would.  I'm home all day, well except when running errands and stuff.  How long should I crate Barkley?  He's 8 weeks.  When he's out I have to watch him every second and I can't always so, how long is good.  I'm sure I'll have more questions later...lol!

I wouldn't crate a puppy longer than four hours.  But, I only crate them when I'm gone...

8 weeks they can not hold it that long so I would start by no more than 3 hours.   Even if you are home, I would still put him in the crate just to get him used to it or to have "nap" time.   When they are this young its best to get him very used to the crate because it will pay off later!   So potty him right before you go out to run errands, then come back and potty.  Let him play for a bit, then I would give him some crate time at home for like an hour or two, then back out to play.

I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't crate for more than an hour per month, I guess that would be 2 hours for an 8 week old puppy.
