This may seem like an odd question but DH asked me and I thought "wow, I don't know!"  Do you trim the whiskers on your boxer's muzzle, or leave them alone?  When we got Porter, he didn't have whiskers there, but a few weeks later, he's getting some.  Thanks!!

Re: Strange Question... do you trim the whiskers on their mu

I groom my two small poodles myself with  cordless wahl animal clippers, and once did try to trim Zulus whiskers and he went burning around the room like a looney, i tried again and he kept trying to eat the clipper and barking his head off so i gave up.
His get quite long so sometimes when he is sleeping i get the scissors and cut them shorter and pretend im not doing anything when he looks up

My father took my old boxer to a groomer one time.  They gave him what's called a show cut, since his ears were cropped too.  They cut his whiskers short so they were all the same length and they waxed them as well.  Looked really nice.

Can't say I ever even thought about this before. I don't really notice them that much. I do however get out the scissors to trim up Phoenixs stub when the fur from underneath starts to get too long...I don't know why but it drives me nuts!

We trim Ashleys when she sleeps. She doesn't get many, but the ones that come out of the "moles" on the side of her face are kinda rough against my skin. Also, my past boxers required it for show..so I guess I am just used to doing it!

I guess showing dogs is like showing horses.  I trimmed everything on my horses before shows - ears, muzzle, fetlocks (ankles), bridle path (where the bridle sits on the top of the head), mane, tail, etc., etc., etc.  I imagine that show dogs are trimmed accordingly, depending on the breed.  As far as my dogs go, I don't trim anything, because they're pets.  Plus, I've heard that dogs use their whiskers to "feel" their way around when they can't see in the dark-is that true?

um, ow! No trimming here. I see no need for it unless you have a show dog.[/quote:151ey8ex]

lol, they didn't wax them like waxing someone's eyebrows.  They waxed them like a car to make them really shiny.
