Hi Folks,

We noticed Sweetie starting to bleed about 12 days ago - and she's still bleeding a fair bit....is this normal? I read that entire heat was about three weeks with the middle week being the bleeding week. I suppose every girl is different though. I was going to call the vet tomorrow...but if you all say that's normal, maybe I won't be such a Nervous Nelly. We have toddler pull-ups on her - which work GREAT! :)

She's 11.5 months and we have an appointment for her spaying in March.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

typical cycle is 3 weeks. Bleeding can happen only in the second week...it can happen during the first two weeks....or it can occur during all three weeks. every girls is different. dont be upset if her "figure" goes down the toilet and she doesnt go back to pre-heat cycle looks. hormone levels increase whether she is bred or not, so the body still expierences the same symptoms.

Reese's nipples did stay enlarged, but also her lower two nipples...the area around it stayed a bit swollen and saggy as if she had milk in them at some point. I am told that this can be normal...some dogs go back to pre-heat cycle figure and some dont. My savannah had a litter before i gave her her forever home and you cant tell that she was everr bred....Reese though has never had a puppies and she looks as if she had.
