I have been looking at this forum for a bit now and decided it was time to join.

My wife and I have an almost (on the 18th) 7 month old brindle male boxer. He weighs roughly 30 lbs or so. We are curious as to when is the earliest we should change him over to adult food. We are currently feeding with Iams Smart Puppy Proactive (or something like that) for large breed puppies.

We are also looking at changing his food to Diamond.

Thanks for the input.

If the protein and fat content are low enough, you should be able to switch him now.  I have my Jetta who is 7 months old on adult food and she's doing great.  Puppy food really is a gimmick.  I tried Diamond and it caused a lot of gas, runny eyes, and shedding with my two.  If you want to go with a diamond brand, try either chicken soup or premium edge.  Both are really good foods.  Iams really isn't the best for boxers because of the corn in it.  Boxers are prone to allergies= esp corn, wheat and soy

First off welcome to the forum! I found that Diamond gave Angel horrendous gas, I mean clear the room type...After we slowly weaned her off, it got much better...You could actually go to an all stages food now if you like...There's a couple Sticky topics here in the food section you may want to take a look at. Keep in mind, every dog is different, a good food for one, doesn't mean it will work for another....Get samples and try a few to see what works
