Recommend Tanoak.

Our Georgie was a Tanoak dog in part (Mother was a Tanoak bitch, Father was from a no longer in business breeder (pro-boxers.) He was a sweet, polite, big, clever boy. He could be slightly bossy, nothing out of the question, however he didn't especially want to be in charge. The one thing I would caution is that he did require major surgery for gastric torsion at 9 years. Completely my fault (I put too much food down and walked away...) and easily avoided. The incredible thing was he recovered rapidly from this major, invasive surgery at such anadvanced age. three to four weeks and we couldn't tell there had been an issue.
Georgie passed away at 15 (YES 15!!!!) years of age! Big, handsome. strong boy, people used to slow down and compliment him on walks out of their car windows. Beautiful mastiffy head, and talk about longevity. The only health issues he suffered from (Besides that one incident) were arthritis and some superficial, benign tumours, which weren't even evident til he was darn near 14 years...if they breed dogs like George, they know what they are doing!

It seems odd to join the forum and your first post is the praises of a certain breeder. Call me cynical but why not tell us more about yourself, even post in the newbie section...it just makes it seem suspect if you ask me.

I am also considering Tanoak Breeders for another boxer to add to my family having owned boxers for over 25 years. I am overwelmed by all the positive and negative comments on this forum. I don't know what to believe. The problems is that I'm in Northwestern Ontario and cannot visit the breeder. Im trying to go by reviews and comments, but they are all over the map? Any advice?

Sablekay, your location does make it tricky to follow through on research. I will say that maybe if you could visit Tanoak you might change your opinion on getting a puppy from them.

It all comes down to what you are comfortable with. What should never change is health testing. If a breeder doesn't health test, walk away.

Tanoak is a very large breeder who has multiple litters per year. Back in the day they were very active in the show ring, now they just seem to dabble here and there. I am not aware of any health testing done by them. Their dogs are all crated in their home and get to go outside on a rotation schedule.

It is public knowledge how many litters a breeder registers per year. You just need to call the CKC and ask. IMO they are higher than average.
