Hey everyone I'm new to this site and to boxers. I have previously trained a Pitbull who is a doll, loves attention and affection and listens very well.  My new guy is a 12-1/2 week old brindle boxer named Champ.  He is pretty good at listening in the house when he's not distracted, but as soon as we go outside or something interesting is happening forget about it, please help me.  How do I get his attention when we are outside or if he is distracted.

Thanks,
Mark

We use "LOOK" as a command when I need their attention.   I taught this using the clicker.  I would say "LOOK" and evertime they would look at me would click/treat.  I also do it when I call their name.   As soon as they pay any attention to me click/treat.

At 12.5 weeks your boy is learning much about what is around him, so dont worry if it takes sometime to have total concentration.  I finally got it but have issues sometimes with my two year old.   They are curious esp that young, so it will come, just keep at it, and have patients!

Heather gave you some good advice...Also try hand signals, I find even with hearing dogs, they seem to work well...At that age, Boxers are just so darn curious and everything is new to them...When you find that you are losing his interest, put Champ in a sit and keep him there for a minute..Sometimes, if your Boxer or any dog for that matter is toy motivated, you can carry a favorite toy as well to get their attention, also carry treats with you :)
