Wondering if anybody has taken there dogs with them to the beach.  We're mainly looking for pet friendly areas in North or South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida.  I would one website, but it doesn't really show alot of information about attractions, etc.  I finally convinced the wife taking a little time and going someplace may not be a bad idea, now hopefully I can get something nailed down.  Just wanna know opinions, or websites that might have that info.

Florida, Sanibel Island to be exact  Is very nice and the beaches are exceptional.  I live in Florida in Bonita Springs in the winter and my favorite day trip is to take my boxers to the beaches on Sanibel.  It is very laid back and low key.  There are several cottage type resorts on the Island that rent to dogs. Just google it.

Venice Florida has a really nice dog friendly beach.  Nice area of sandy beach and set up with places to wash the sand off etc.

I'm in Pensacola, FL and for some reason this area here isn't very dog friendly. We found out we have two dog parks and just last week we found out one was a dog beach... since they aren't allowed at the people beaches (which I dislike) but I guess it's understandable. We haven't taken him yet because there's an age limit (16 yrs old) and we don't really have some one to watch Sarah.

Hope you find something really NICE!

We are planning on taking the kiddos down to the gulf after the holidays, so have been looking into some of the same things. Donna, who is my meetup co-ordinator was telling me that they went to a hotel at Universal Orlando that really caters to dogs. I can get the name when I see her this w/end...We so far have eliminated Orange Beach, Pensacola & Gulfshores, think it's going to be Biloxi, more options as far as pet friendly hotels...Also check out this website:

I'm looking too...Seeing as how my bfs mom will never watch my babies again, we're planning our own little get away next year (thats if we're even still together!! LOL)... But I have a really close friend who wouldn't mind getting away either and this person absolutely respects my dogs and knows I cater to them first...

Yay... Biloxi... I had a blast... they only had 7 or so casino's open when we went for my birthday but now there are a lot more. I'd like to go back and visit the beach and base... still wish we'd gotten stationed there... then we'd still be in the Air Force and havin' a blast! I love that it's only 2hrs away  :D

My sister and her boyfriend have taken their 3 dogs to Seabrook Island in South Carolina.  I've been going there myself for about 11 yrs. The beach is pretty much empty so the dogs can run free as could be....the water is wonderful, dolphins, sticks everywhere.......my sister said their dogs had aball and loved every min. of it.  You can rent a condo. that is right there on the beach as well.  They are pretty resonably priced.  Charelston is a gorgeous town....lots of some the best restaurants ever, history, and people walk their dogs all the time.  Anyway....something to think about.  It really is a great, fun place to go!  Have fun with where ever you decide to go!

I've taken my Boxers to the beach, but I live in New Jersey, so I don't think that helps you too much.

We ended up choosing Destin.  Sanibel Island looked very nice, but it was about 4-5 hours more driving each way.  We found a pet friendly condo that would take both Charlie and Sadie.  FYI if your traveling, 99% of condos that are pet friendly will not take anything over 25lbs.  There is a dog park there room for them to play outside the condo.  I've got a feeling they will not wanna be outside with the temps being so high.  Hopefully I'll get the wife to post some pics in a couple of weeks.
