Someone told their daughter to get away from my Jeep (the top and doors were off) because the dog in the Jeep was a mean pitbull.   I said actually she is a boxer, but she might not want your kid touching her anyway.  (Lette is very good with kids, I have a six year old)  It just made me mad!

It happens with JAck (my parents boxer) all the time which is understandable he is huge and he looks scarey...but Lette...Come on...that face...you just have to love it.  If I have to educate each person that calls her a pitbull I will lol...If yall had seen the little girl running towards the Jeep to pet her, and how her mother ran super fast to pull her back to tell her it was a mean pitbull...I was like come on...Stop your daughter walk over and talk to me before you assume that my dog who looks nothing like a pitbull is a pitbull.  Lette was just chilling in the seat looking around.  She saw the little girl coming and all she did was sit there and wag her little nub.  I was sooo irritated! lol

I DONT LET MY KIDS WALK UP TO ANY DOG THEY DONT KNOW, BE IT SMALL OR LARGE. IN MY EXPERIENCE ITS THOSE LITTLE ONES THAT WILL TAKE YOUR HAND OFF.LOL. I GUESS ITS THE BRINDLES THAT GET MISTAKEN FOR THE PITS. ABBEY IS REVERSE BRINDLE AND WE GET MISTAKEN FOR A PIT ALL THE TIME. PIT BULLS LOOK SHORT AND STOUT TO ME. ABBEY LOOKS LIKE WHAT SHE IS- A BOXER.

I agree with Dkennedy about this.  I know it's annoying that uninformed people can't establish the difference between a pitbull and a boxer. Actually, my male that is fawn is mistaken for the pitbull by some people.  That being said, it is good to educate the public that it is always wise and appreciated that they ask permission before approaching any dog.  They just don't know and if we don't explain it they will never know.

I have never met a pitbull I didn't like.  They get an unfair rap in life.

I am more afraid of the "little yippers" than any of the big dogs I meet.

Yea, i'm with Heather, I quit getting mad, frustrated yes, but I keep my "patient" face on and do my best to educate...I never have liked kids coming up to mine and not ask first before petting, it's not that they will bite, but it tells me what they haven't been taught by parents...Mine love the attention, but like with adults, you need to approach dogs correctly   Good response tho, but Kaity, yours was priceless "no, it's a chihuahua :lol:

I have never had anyone ask if Kiah was a pit but I did have some think that my pit was a boxer  :lol:   I have had people cross the street as we are walking but I don't know if that is becasue people think she is a pit or don't like bigger dogs.  It used to bother me too, but now I think it is just how some people are.  I do love that some that ask questions about Kiah and also like the ones that thank me for having Kiah do a sit-wait while they walk by or jog by.

We have several pits in our neighborhood and all but one are very friendly...but the owner of the mean told me that he is trained to attack lol...(our town is not a good town lol third largest crime rate in Texas)  And I agree with Kennedy that pits are short and stout and the boxer face and body look nothing like a pit.  If you would have heard the way this mother said get away from that Jeep, that is a mean pitbull...yall would have said something...but I am also that girl that one day was in WalMart (which I hate btw) walking down an aisle minding my own business and stopped to get something and this girl behind me said move bitch...and I turned around and said uhmmm what did you say.  Its not that I am confrontational, its just that I hate when idiots say things...Uhmmm last I checked you stop on the aisles in walmart to get what you need, and I wasnt in the middle I was on one side, and she could have easily gone around me.  lol....I hATE WALMART!!!!  

It made up for it today when Lette and I went to go get breakfast and the girl at the drive-thru said...ohhhh she is a pretty boxer lol...and asked if Lette was gonna have puppies.... I said no she is fixed and the girl was sad....soooo people like that make me have good days lol
