Okay, this is probably crazy, but my little BO is a pervert!!!!!!  Everytime him and Laila play he starts trying to hump her on her back.  I can't get him to quit.  It looks awful and was really embarrassing when he started doing it while the Jehova's witness people were here.  (They come by once every couple of weeks or so, along with the Mormons.  I think they alternate visiting us each week.)  Anyway, they were telling me about "Paradise" and Bo started going crazy on Laila.  It was like...... Doggy Porn in front of these people.  I was humiliated and had to excuse his behavior.  I immediately seperated them in different areas... Is this okay, Isn't he too young at 11 weeks to be doing this.. . how do I stop it....... Please help me...............

Well I know it's not always a sexual thing and can be a dominance issue and he's just stating his dominance.

I've never really had Odin do it SO MUCH... or Kyrie... it's every great once in a while. Sometimes when they are wrestling... Kyrie will hump Odin... or try... lol

Wish I could be of more help! Hopefully it will stop once he's decided he's shown who the dominant one is...?

When I had two Shelties...they were both female and littermates.  Bayla's sister always mounted her.  Nikki (the sister) was always pulling rank for dominance.  I'm not sure I am right about this, but I didn't want Jaxon to do the same.  I do little things, like give Bayla treats FIRST, call Bayla to me, then Jaxon.  If Bayla has had enough of Jaxon's roughhousing, I'll let her sit with me on the recliner, things like that.  He has only attempted to mount Bayla twice and it was when family was visiting.

Well that sucks!Looks like you bought yourself a pervert............j/k.Actually everything that I have read on dog behavior says that this is normal and actually has nothing to do with sex.It is usually a dominance thing but can also somtimes be a submission thing too.It is also not uncommon for a female to try and hump a male if she thinks she she be the dominant one.Do a search for canine behavior.Actually I think that there is even a link on this site that has something to do with dog behavior. All in all I would not be embarrassed about the situation. If someone is offended or never seen this act before just let them watch because they must have a pretty sheltered life and may need the education......lol

That's pretty typical behavior. Bo is just a puppy, he truly doesn't even know what he's doing,sexually..It is a dominence thing, if Laila allows it I wouldn't be concerned..Tia used to mount Buck all the time, goofy face just staring & Buck would allow it...Don't be embarrassed, it's a part of life...If someone is offended at 2 puppies basically playing, I would worry about them...

Just redirect the behavior with something else. Give a good NO command each time to stop it and eventually the idea that humping is not acceptable behavior will sink in. Other than that, dogs will be dogs.

Harley is 11 weeks old also, and he has done that a couple of times , so that is probably just normal behavior. Embarassing as it may be.

You think that's bad, my sister's chihuahua used to hump our cat for like 5 minutes at a time.  And the chihuahua was a girl, and the cat was a boy!

I was trying to find an answer to my question before I started a new post and I think I did.

Bear is 8 weeks old and has started "humping"  He did it to Binga's leg the first night home.  I have caught him doing it several times since them.  I just tell him NO and he quits.

when he does it they have been playing pretty hard.  Just wanted to make sure it was normal for that young?!?

Ya know Diesel has never humped anything..until at his birthday party, my mom's lab started humping him! I got her down quickly, but the day after I caught him trying to hump chyna. I told him no, and he stopped and hasn't done it since..I hope it's not a reoccurring thing now!

Ha.  I know its a normal thing for dogs...   mostly males.  BUT I thought 8 weeks was REALLY young to start.

I think at that age its a play/dominance thing....once laila goes into heat though (if you dont spay her b4 that), you might have some troubles...

I can't think of a better way to get a solicitor off my property.  Ringer is learning a new command tonight!
puts new meaning to the phrase 'get em!'

pretty sure they'll all be running off your property real fast!

edit: lol I'm still laughing at that visual. a terrified solicitor thinking OMG this dog is gonna bite me...but no..it's worse. lol

My grandpa has a little dog who loves to hump his teddy bear.  It only took me a day to get him to associate his humping with the command "Who's in charge."  Now I can point at anything and say Who's in charge and he will go to town.  Now if Ringer wasn't so submissive, I could teach him too.
