We are in Janesville about 20 minutes (down I-90) to the IL border and 40 minutes south of Madison.  Willing to drive a few hours to a meetup; we have been to the dog park in Racine and love it there its so big.

Barb - We've spent many hours at the Racine dog park.  It is really great, but there were some cases of dogs getting Blasto, either the pond or the river. Summer is the worst.  Also don't carry a wallet because there were some breakins of cars on Hwy38.  There's a great park in Lake Forest, I think on Waukegan Road.  A cheap license is required there, so you know that the dogs have at least had rabies vaccination. It's big, fenced, and has a wonderful large pond.  We snuck in without a license but don't tell anybody.  Not too far from Racine.  Another park is on Rawson, east of the I.  Looks big and is fenced.

We may have a 9-month old coming in April that we'll co-own with breeder.  If so, I'd love to join a group.

Thanks for the heads up, we have only been there 3 times.  We have a great dog park here that we go to 4 to 5 times a week and they are opening another one in Milton this spring; both require permits.  The one in Janesville, has someone who checks for a tag and polices the park but not sure how they will handle the one in Milton.  I will have to check the other two you mentioned.  I love meetups, Nexu and I have gotten together once after the meetup group disbanded, the organizers moved and no one else was willing to take over.

One of my good friends' wife is a vet, and she still takes her dog to the dog park on 38, she just keeps him out of the pond as that is where the concern is.

We had a problem about 6 years ago at the Racine Park.  A young child was running around with a big red pail and hit my dog's head.  He did a mouth butt to the child's arm to warn him to drop it.  A false police report was filed, with the parent claiming her child was stalked around the park previous to this incident.  Then come the lawyers suing us because the child then was afraid of dogs.

The parent was very disappointed when a physician out there testified to our insurance company that no such thing happened.  They didn't get a penny, but it could have been a disaster.  Wisconsin has such funky laws someone can come after you if a dog even knocks someone down playing too rough.  Our agent said somebody got $30,000 when a dog accidently knocked down a 3-year old visiting their home.
There are dogs out there that are dangerous, but this?  Boxers play rough, and run hard.  Just keep an eye out if children are running around.

Hope it is not anywhere near the flooding or Lake Delton (now a muddy field where lake delton was).  Are you passing through Janesville?

grammie does she go to the boxer bash sponsored by Green Acres Boxer Rescue?  I plan to go in Sept and would love to meet up with some forum people.

i don't think she has, b/c we had a meetup with boxer friends in MO last year b/c she didn't know anyone in WI.

Barb - I'm planning on going to the Boxer Bash for the first time.  The pup should be ready to come home in September if all goes well.  Is there anybody up in the Door County area?  I want to socialize him as much as I can, either in SE Wisconsin or up in Door County.

That is great Ann, you will be in Boxer heaven.  Maybe we can set a time and place for all of us to meet, I have someone going with me so I am bringing both Kiah and Keegan.

Sounds good Barb.  That may be the weekend the pup is ready so I can swing by to pick him up on the way back down.  I do need a major Boxer fix.  Wonder if you've run into "Hanna" at the Racine dog park.  I think the owner has added a couple more Boxers.

Haven't been there since last fall; the last time I was in Racine think it was in April I met Nexu at the beach by his house.  With gas prices probably won't be going to Racine much.  Don't remember meeting a Hanna" at the Racine park.  Was she with the meetup group; there were quite a few and I don't remember all the names.
