Wow! If your dogs are usually friendly toward just about everyone and have this reaction only to him it makes me wonder what kind of person he is. Dogs do tend to be better judges than us humans and when something is off about someone they know it.

That aside, I'd suggest you & your bf maybe approach him & see if he'd be willing to meet your dogs. Perhaps if they get the chance to meet him, give him a good sniff, take a treat from him, etc, they will settle down. If not I'd suggest longer & more frequent walks, lots of time spent working on their basic obedience (reinforcing things they know & perhaps teaching them something new), etc.

Sorry, I think that's the best advice I can come up with right now.

I'd say, def let them meet him but on neutral turf, sidewalk, parking lot, park etc. then let them watch him go to his yard (if they are ok with the outside greeting). They will (should) make the connection it's the same person and he's a nice guy. Unless he really isn't a nice guy, then you will know!

we did try the "meeting" it was the first time I have EVER seen ALL THREE refuse to have anything to do with someone they each hid behind me and barked at this guy and shook like they were terrified I even gave him liver treats their favorite and there was no way they would walk around me not even Buster who 99.8% of the time hasent met a human he didnt like wanted Nothing to do with this guy they all acted terrified of him ziggs I expected to be slow to "warm up" cause that is who she is but Brandi hid and shook and so did my big dude which is SO NOT THEM
My question is how do we live next door to someone that they hate /are afraid of and what do I do to try to "make it ok" for them I feel like a furmom failure

Wow... that's crazy! They must know something that you don't know!

Almost makes me think he did something to scare them!

I don't know how you would make them stop reacting to him like that when they're even doing it through the walls! Wow! I'm sorry I'm not much help with this one... hopefully someone else can help.

Is it possible that he is scared of them? My parents had a neighbor who was afraid of their dog (who happened to be one of the friendliest dogs ever!) and every time their dog would see him she would bark and snarl at him. I think she just didn't understand why someone would be afraid of her (maybe in her mind he would only be afraid if he had done something wrong?).

I really don't have anything to add. Some dogs suit condo/apartment life and others do not. I don't think your guys are used to hearing other people through the walls. Is this living arrangement long term? I would increase exercise to at least and hours run in the morning before work and another 1-2 hours at night before bed. Leash free where they can run! See if a daycare will give you a deal on 3 dogs a couple days a week to get them out of your cramped apartment. Sounds to me like they are going stir crazy and focusing on your neighbour.

hopefully not more then another couple of months but we have been there for 6 months and never had an issue with them the neighbor and her teen daughter fight all the time and they never had an issue with them it wasnt until her Bf moved in that any of this started they are getting at LEAST 3 hours of hard play outside and walks due to the cramped conditions for them up from the 1-2 hours when they had a big yard to romp in we also try to distract them when inside but it doesnt seem to work when this guy is there that has 100% of their focus it is sooo frustrating when he is gone all is good but when he is off work

Do you know his name? I'd be looking up public records on this guy!
