Default New to the forum! Quick question about my older pug attacking boxer pup

My boxer puppy is 14 weeks old and about 16 pounds. She is confident, and playful. My pug, which is 12 years old and about 25 pounds, hates the new puppy. He growls at her anytime she enters a room, and sometimes snaps at her neck. The pug is notorious for biting. Will this be a problem?

Of course i'm fearful for the puppy right now, but soon she will be bigger and stronger than the pug. I am wondering if the pug will eventually become submissive, or the boxer will one day hurt the pug. We also have a toy poodle that attacks her her, but it is more of a respect kinda thing that blows over quickly.

any insight?

well we a fairly new too. Our puppy will be 12 weeks in a few days. We also have a terrier who is very alpha. They met in a neutral area, I held the puppy for her to sniff then let him. After a few minutes we walked them together my daughter walked the pup and I the terrier and then came into the house. I kept them separate with either the crate of a baby gate. We have the pup about a month now and they are ok. They play a little rough and if they get too rough I give them time away from one another. At this point the two are never unsupervised loose in the house. By the time the puppy is trustworthy I'm sure they will be ok. Our terrier is 12 lbs and the pup is 17 lbs.

like Lindar15 said to introduce them in an area outside your place first...thats how youll know if they are good together if they arent it shouldnt be a good idea for them to be together...If you didnt then I guess if your trying to make it work it will be a tough one for you...I think it can be done but will require alot of work and seperation for awhile...

When we got Mack who is 10months now we introduced mason who is 3 outside before we came inside, they love each other but the cats are another story, the 15y cat hates the dogs and is actually the Alfa here, and the 6y cat hides all day and comes out at night...
Good luck but remember animals are like children they get jealous make sure to give special time with each

Thanks for the responses guys.

It is definitely a tricky situation because the pug is not the alpha in the house, the toy poodle is lol. The pug is just s old and annoyed with the pup, but the pup shows nothing but love to him. Luckily, the puppy gets along with the toy poodle enough where they are willing to sit next to each other on the couch and stuff

I hope the boxer puppy doesn't hate the pug later on

I have found most boxers dont hold a grudge they are too goofy lol to let something like a grumpy old dude bring them down or to even care as they get older

I have a grumpy old man 3 lb terrier who growls and snaps (he has no teeth) at Ruby my boxer and has since day 1. The grumpy guy is not alpha I have an 8 lb rat terrier who bosses both of them around, because this has happened the entire time of Rubys 10 months with us she backs away when the grump growls. She knows she is low dog on the totem pole and Emerald my rat terrier keeps both of them in line. All three of them curl up and cuddle with me Patches the grump just likes things calm.
