Default Monty got diagnosed with Osteosarcoma

Hello to all my boxer parents,
Me and my boyfriend brought our 11 year old fawn boxer monty to the vet today after seeing him limp, not be able to jump on to our bed and have a lump on his hip. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. I was working and met my boyfriend while i was on duty and had the news that no boxer parent would want said that he had "bone cancer". I tried to hold back the tears and we had our other boxer with us in the room. Im trying to the hold back the tears typing this. I know this not the first time this has happened to any dog parent, but I'm just looking for some guidance. His right hip in no joking way has started to crumble like feta cheese. This all got exposed to us this past week. Were good parents , our pups go yearly to the vet and our other boxer Layla has a paw that had an early injury after adopting that has stunted her growth plate and grew out to the side. So we are not new to the vet...but new to this news. Monty LOVES hiking , and we even in the winter will try to get out at least once a week. But I'm afraid now with with his hip. Is there any kinda treatment, device, anything that can make his life more enjoyable along with the medications and love/comfort we give him? The vet offered radiation which would only prolong what they think is the enevible for 1 month or two. Iam open to holistic and energy healing which I'm looking into. But if anybody used or did anything to make there furry loved one have the best possible life then please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.
With Love -Amanda, Jeff, Monty , and Layla

I am very very sorry to hear about Monty's osteosarcoma.

I don't have experience with this but I wanted to paste this link from our Holisitic section.

Goudasmom is well-versed in holisitic measures and I hope she chimes in.

Wishing you and your buddy well and praying that he remains pain free.

So sorry about Monty! If he's starting to have trouble walking, maybe he would benefit from a doggy wheelchair? Not sure how well that would work for hiking though... I hope you can make his final days pain free and happy.

So sorry to here about Monty..Just give him all the love and help, you can..It will be so hard.If he has a favorite, snack or treat, you might give it to him more often..I am sure you know how to put towel under ,his stomach, close to back legs ,To help him walk,a little better, and to relieve any pain ,he might have, when walking...My prayers are with you.

Thank you everyone for your responses and kind words. Roccosmom I'm looking at the link you posted (thank you ). Sasasola and Fritzmom lm looking into something with a wheel or wheels. But the towel I actually did not even think about. So thank you for that.

Were just staying positive and attempting to have plan A, B , and C as the days go by. He's limping on and off. The pain meds the vet gave us yesterday appear to be helping and we started him on Gabapentin yesterday.

I still want him to feel like he can do everything. I know he wants to even if it pains him. I getting steps for the bed and couch. The towel method will defiantly come in handy.
Thank you again for all your kind words and support. Nice to know there is this wonderful community of boxer parents out there.
