Default Ready to add another boxer to the family

We have a 6 year old male boxer and would like to add another boxer to our family. I love his temperament and his build, so I would like to get another male. Any advice on two boxers in the same home....or should I consider a female?

If your guy has a great temperament around other dogs male or female I would say you could go for either sex. Its the 2 females you have to be a bit more careful about.

CynBoxerMom has 3 males I believe.

I am also interested in having two pups and all of the breeders that I have spoken to told me that the best pairs would be male/male of male/female.

I have always had male/female combo and have had no problems. I have had 6 boxers in my life now and have always had them this way. I have heard several people say there have been problems with 2 females.

Yes I have two of them a almost 2 year old female and a 10 month old male. They get along really well he is much bigger than her but they wrestle and play really hard and have a good time they entertain each other a lot too. Then they sit there and groom each others faces like cats! They are so funny.

Generally speaking ... "two puppies" at once, is not the best of idea's?? Aside from the obvious, twice the work issues??

And the possibility of sibling rivalry down the road?? The puppies would most likely "Bond" with each other and not with You.

Well your in an ideal position! As with just one. Your free to chose either male or female.

I'd vote for a girl myself, and I was a male dog kinda guy myself! But my first hmm, second female Boxer attempt, left me enamored with the girls! PIA ... that they can be! The males are much more eager to please you. The girl's "not so much??" IE the males say "How can I make you happy??" The girl's say "how you can you make me happy??"

But either sex will work out fine for you.

LOL well then ... I dare say you've let out "details??" Cuz AFIK??? You seem to be the one on her that "Walk" your Boxer "off leash??"

Now by all right's I could have done that with my "Struddell??" But I just did not "trust her" off leash to make "Good Choices???" Now most likely ... that was just me??? As I was a pretty "hard core" helicopter dad??? You do dog stuff "Struddell" and just leave the "thinking to me.

She just never gave me the "sense" that she was aware of her surrounding's?? I just never got that "feeling" with my Male Dog's?? And "Rocky" my male WL GSD, that "sense' of what to do?? Was "off the hook!" We were a "team," not a "Dad and Child???"

But sigh ... maybe it was just me?? Struddell was my first girl?? SO really I never gave her a chance, to just be a "Dog??" My bad???
