Ok, so I was walking through the pet store last night and I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with a little wee baby Boston. Maybe cuz it looks like mini Tango! OMG, he was seriously the cutest thing ever (sorry Tango!) and I wanted to put him in my pocket and walk out!

Anyway, no, I would never buy from a pet store, and especially not at $1999.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT, I was wondering for those that have them, are they barkers in general? I would love, love, love to own one down the road but live in an apartment so no yappy dogs, and Tango would need to calm out alot first!

My parents have a BT, and he is not a barker at all. BUT, talk about ENERGY! Makes Laila look like a sloth! He is Laila's BFF, but we call him the Boston Terror... . They sure are cute, though! IMO they make good companions for Boxers b/c of their energy level. Big dogs in a small package.

Oh, and beware of really bad gas d/t short muzzle...

Good story about a Boston Terrier, just a few weeks ago

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A Boston terrier stopped a rape attempt by biting a Florida woman's attacker, police said.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the 46-year-old woman allowed a man inside her apartment Wednesday after he said he was a repairman.

Once inside, however, the man attacked her, according to deputies. Her female dog then bit the man on the shoulder, and he fled the apartment.

The woman was treated at a hospital and released.

She described her attacker as 40 to 55 years old, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. She said he has wavy brown and gray hair and very white teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (954) 321-4240 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).

My parents have had three Bostons...all gorgeous and wonderful. They need a lot of affection, consistency, and attention. They LOVE their bones. It has not been my experience that they are big barkers. Unfortunately, my father got his two Bostons from byb and didn't know...they both had health problems and required extensive vet visits during the latter years of their lives. My father fortunately learned from that and found another Boston near his area that was a reputable breeder. So far so good :) They are wonderful dogs and great companions...just watch out for the snoring...it's worse than the Boxers. My best suggestion is do your research and find a reputable breeder...they should be no more expensive than a Boxer from a reputable breeder. Both are fabulous breeds and bottom line, they are DOGS...seeing that you already have a Boxer...you will in no doubt be able to handle the Boston. Let me know what you end up doing...I definitely have a special place in my heart for the Boston's :)

Bostons have a napoleon complex. Awesome, awesome little dogs but huuuuuuuge attitude in that little package. I like them because they're prety spunky and very boxer-ish.

Awesome that they really aren't barkers and maybe I don't have to wait for Tango to calm down. They can drive each other nuts!

Hmmmmm.....terrors, attention-hogs, affectionate....sounds like what I already have. It would fit right in with the family!

I'm not prepared to get one right now, but definitely something to think about because I wuv them!

There was a BT in our obedience class and Cassius wanted nothing more than to play with this dog. Outside of class the BT was definitely the 'alpha' when they played together.. kinda funny to watch. She was a great dog in the class and was one of the better 'students'. My wife wanted a BT but they have been banned because they're the BU mascot.... sounds corny but....

Just wanted to add something else...I was looking into getting a Boston Terrier, and I couldn't find one in my area for less than $2000 from a reputable breeder. The litters are very small (2-3), and are often delivered via Cesarean because of their large blocky heads.

Bostons really are great dogs...their personalities are similar to Boxers, just in a smaller package. My BT, Gavin rarely barks (sometimes in play, otherwise just if he is in 'guard mode.') It is true that they have a lot of energy, but they love their sleep just as much. As long as Gavin gets two good walks a day and some off-leash run time, he is satisfied & calm in the house.

Sooooo true  That is one thing to watch with them, they really think they are bigger then they are..need to be careful around larger alpha dogs who may call them on it.

I am so glad you asked this!! My Zoie is an almost 2 year old Boston Terrier and she is the best. She was my first dog and has so much personality. She never barks but grunts like a little piggy and plays SO well with Lane. She has crazy energy and is a ton of fun. BT's are a great match for Boxers!!

I had one growing up and ours wasn't really a barker at all (except when you brought out the broom or vacuum  ). They are really great dogs....like a mini version of a Boxer, with so much personality. Love them!

I love Boston's....they're so sweet!! There's one in our neighbourhood that always manages to escape its backyard and ends up at our house....i've tried to catch it with no luck! But if catch it, i'll be sure to send it to you

There was a time my friend and I were walking through a grocery store parking lot and she had on some Ugg boots. A Boston was walking our way and I asked permission to pet, we started talking, his name was Cooper. Meanwhile, my friend started playing with Cooper...before we knew it, Cooper had taken to the fuzzy little boot and made it HIS new little friend. Suffice it to say, the boots were never looked at the same and every now and then while my friend is wearing her boots, runs into a little dog (sometimes a Boston too) and they pull a Cooper. That day in the parking lot Cooper made a a new friend :) The Boston Ugg
