Does anyone use one of these? Daisy was misbehaving nonstop in training class (2 time outs!) so after class the trainer showed me one of these. It took both of us to get it on her but I walked her around the store twice and the change in her walking was amazing so I'm going to try it for a week. She definitely makes it difficult trying to put it on though. We argued for an hour about it, walked with it for 5 minutes and she snuck it off! Oh well, we will try again today! She learns new things very well with the clicker so I'm trying to teach her that putting her nose through the loop is a trick!

Bo has one but clumsy me lost it. lol. Well if u get it you still have to put some training behind it so you don't have to walk her on it all her life. It will take her a while to get used to it. Bo still tries to get it off and he's had it for like 5 months but were working on loose lead training and so I guess its good that I lost it because I have just been working with his regular collar and he is getting better.

A trainer who recommends a gentle leader on a young dog isn't much of a trainer. She is young and just needs to learn and that can be taught with a flat collar, 6 foot leash, without risk to her neck not to mention the breech of her spirit which occurs with the use of a GL. Read the Helping Dogs To Calm Themselves post in the forum under Training.

I've used the Halti, which is the same as a GL, but not with a young dog...It worked great with Buck, Tia & Samson, not so well with Angel, her body language was awful when she wore it and her confidence was zip....

I'm not sure I'm putting it on right. She keeps getting it off somehow. We walked for about 10 minutes outside and the entire time she was making gruesome noises but I know she can breathe, she's just being obnoxious. Ugh.
Boxers may not fare well in the heat with the Gentle Leader. The strap around the muzzle may make it more difficult for them to breath. From my personal experience, Laila was miserable with the Gentle Leader. She spent the majority of the walk trying to take it off.

Harley walks with a gentle leader. During puppy class he was pulling me all over and it just got to be too much for me to handle so I got one. He's been doing great with it. Occasionally he does try to get it off, but I just tell him leave it and he stops. He no longer pulls and it must easier to control when those dogs around the neighborhood just come out running
